Letter from Carnival 2025 Chairperson Emily Melski
A “thank you” never seems like enough when expressing gratitude to the dedication of everyone involved with the annual Queen of Heaven Carnival, and this year is no different. The Carnival doesn’t end on the Sunday of our event, the following month is full of clean up, organization and countless close out tasks. As Summer comes to an end and we close out the 2025 Carnival, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this year a great success!
The Lord once again blessed us and in 2025 brought us a weekend of wonderful weather, family fun and enjoyment - none of which is possible without our hundreds of volunteers and our supportive community. To everyone who volunteered throughout the carnival, who donated, who brought their families to support our efforts and who prayed for our successes, THANK YOU.
To Father Greg and Father Ryan, thank you for your leadership and guidance. Your positive support and willingness to help in any way possible led us to another successful year. Thank you to the parish and school staff members that assisted us with every coordinating, promotional and logistical request we had.
Last, but very much not least, I would like to extend a huge, immeasurable thank you to our 2025 Carnival Committee. Every year, our Committee works throughout the year to ensure every aspect of the carnival is prepared and executed. Your dedication to the Queen of Heaven Parish and our Community is inspiring.
As we close out the 2025 Queen of Heaven Carnival, this brief reflection also brings excitement of what is ahead! I encourage anyone interested in becoming more involved to please reach out and join our incredible team of volunteers, none of this is possible without all of you!

Letter from Fr. Greg
Dear Parishioners, Although it was a much hotter than most people would have liked, we had rain free weather for our Carnival last weekend, and this allowed us to reap the benefit of all the work that everyone put in throughout the year preparing for and executing our largest annual event. In any event, our 44th Annual Carnival is complete, and it took in a gross amount of a little more than a half million dollars, which will help benefit our Parish and School. Thursday and Friday evenings actually had us headed toward a record-breaking year, but the heat kicked up on Saturday and Sunday, which brought our numbers down to a more modest level. Exact numbers are not totally in, and time will tell how much we actually will profit from it. Costs certainly continue to go up and bills need to be paid, but it all looks very promising. Most importantly, we had a safe event with very few incidents or major health problems. The community really came together in the midst of the heat. While I cannot begin to name all the individuals who contributed with heroic fervor, I do want to thank Emily Melski, this year’s general chairperson, Jackie Boss her Vice-chair, the Carnival Committee, and the hundreds of others who worked at the Carnival serving people directly or behind the scenes! I would be remiss if I also did not thank all those who were praying for good weather and the success of the Carnival. Certainly, we can do nothing without God’s help, and we were blessed with truly a remarkable event.
While at the Carnival, one of the security guards asked me how we are able to get so many people to volunteer for the event. He was truly amazed at the number and quality of people volunteering, and I agreed with him. It is astounding, particularly with everything going on today. It certainly starts with the Carnival Committee who work so hard through- out the year, and it really reflects well the spirit of Queen of Heaven Parish. As I write this article on Tuesday afternoon following the Carni- val, there are many very tired people who put in countless hours over the past few weeks particularly, and a good number of them were here yesterday doing the clean-up and tying up many loose ends. It is difficult to get volunteers for this, and we are still working on tidying everything up. However, the majority of the clean-up is already complete. I am impressed once again by the dedication and diligence of our volunteers. The spirit and energy of all involved is amazing. Thank you again for your hard work!
